Parker Precision Embracing Industry 4.0

We are proud to announce that, as part of our constant investment in state-of-the-art technologies, we have installed a brand-new shop floor data collection system. For Parker Precision, embracing Industry 4.0 means computerisation of our manufacturing processes, collecting live data from each stage and taking action on the feedback.

Benefits of using our shop floor data collection system include:


  • Access to flexible job management – Using accurate data to improve productivity and the efficiency of processes as well as employees.
  • Providing accurate data for reporting – providing real-time access to current work progress by employee, job, department, work centre or supervisor.
  • Better cost control – by closely monitoring each manufacturing process, it is easier to monitor cost per job, shift or even department. The feedback provided can support our cost decisions.

Parker Precision’s shop floor inspection cell supports zero escapes

Zero defect manufacturing puts increased pressure on the aerospace supply chain, where, understandably, aerospace companies do not want to accept even minimal defects in parts

Parker Precision Limited have been working towards  the aerospace requirement of Zero Defects with their customers for some time now, with great success. One strategy for this is a target of zero escapes to meet and exceed the expectations of both our customers and the aerospace industry as a whole. This means, thanks to our shop floor inspection cell, we can identify and resolve any issues highlighted at point of cause, helping to strengthen our stringent quality checks during the manufacturing process.

Parker Precision expands capabilities by investing in a new Mazak vari-axis i500

For 2016, Parker Precision made the decision to invest in a new Mazak vari-axis i500 machine, to expand their capabilities and cater for a growing customer demand. Although they had the machinery to produce parts with a multi axis milling requirement, Parker Precision hadn’t got a true 5th axis capability on site, and were having to regret on some customer enquiries as a result.

Operational from May 2016, the new Mazak vari-axis i500 machine allows Parker Precision to work with one machine, rather than two, as previously required. This in turn means they have improved productivity, which is hugely beneficial to their customers. It also means they can supply a wider range of customers and have increased their capacity to take on new business.

The new machine has also allowed some of the staff at Parker Precision to expand their skillset through extensive training on the new ‘smooth programming’ system.

Managing Director Phil Parker commented, “The Mazak vari-axis i500 machine is a fantastic addition to our plant. We are always keen to make investments that will benefit both existing customers and the company’s long term growth strategy.”

The cutting edge of precision engineering…

In preparation for a prosperous future, Parker Precision continue to uphold its long term strategy of investment in capital equipment and a dedication to utilising state-of-the-art technology.

Most recent purchases include a STAR SR-20RIV and a STAR SV-38R, both of which commenced production in the Bilston based factory in January 2015.

Director, Phil Parker commented on the latest investments: “The SR-20RIV is a duplicate of the machine we bought in 2013. The first machine has proved itself to be so successful for us, that it became in danger of being over utilised. Therefore the decision to buy another was a no brainer really, as we continue to push the company forwards.”

The SV-38R was the first to be sold in the UK, testament to Parker Precisions objective to remain at the cutting edge of precision engineering technology. The SV-38R gives Parker Precision all the advantages of the 20m/m machine, but with a bigger bar capacity of 38 m/m.

Total investments in new machinery come to £500,000 for 2014/2015. Parker Precision are now working hard to raise their profile across a range of industries. Proudly showcasing their precision engineering technology and expertise, in order to fill the increased capacity and continue to drive the company forward through 2015.
